THE HISTORY KEEPERS OF KELLY FIELD

10-18-2017

It takes special dedication and years of tireless work to capture a century of history and then share it with the world.

Ann Hussey and John Tosh were in the front lines—bearing witness to the history of the former Kelly AFB as it unfolded and, years later, preserving those moments for future generations.

Ann devoted a large part of her career as an Air Force historian to intensive research, culminating in seminal books on the history of military aviation in San Antonio, with a particular focus on Kelly.

John Tosh, whose military service included decades as an officer stationed at Kelly, has devoted nearly 20 more years since retirement to launching and running the Texas Air Museum at Stinson Airport. There, he and his team of volunteers showcase a vast collection of aircraft and artifacts that recount the history of the men and women who built the enduring legacy of Kelly and other aviation icons in our community.
