Two years ago, IntelliGenesis LLC—a Maryland-based leader in artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and big data solutions—expanded its reach as it joined the growing innovation ecosystem at Port San Antonio.
Since then, the company has been building partnerships, advancing national security missions and preparing the next generation of tech talent in one of America’s leading communities of technological innovation.

Running from Sept. 15-19, the company will host a beta AI/ML Specialist Course at the Boeing Center at Tech Port—a 40-hour immersive program designed for mid-level cybersecurity professionals. This training is just one example of how IntelliGenesis is strengthening the region’s standing as a national leader in cybersecurity and other advanced technologies.
By combining AI innovation with mission-focused expertise, the company complements the work of other defense and tech organizations at Port San Antonio, creating powerful and strategic collaborations that support both national security and commercial sectors—protecting against ever-evolving threats and also continually improving the digital systems that defend our nation and drive economic growth.
Founded in 2007 by retired Air Force veteran Angie Lienert, IntelliGenesis has spent nearly two decades supporting the Department of Defense (DoD) and intelligence community with advanced cyber and AI capabilities, from developing AI-powered tools that detect and neutralize cyber threats to creating immersive training programs tailored to the needs of the company’s growing governmental and private-sector clientele.
When IntelliGenesis opened its San Antonio office inside the Boeing Center at Tech Port in the fall of 2023, Lienert called it “a great place for us to be and for us to grow.” The move brought the company closer to key Air Force and defense partners while embedding it in one of the nation’s fastest-growing technology hubs.
Why San Antonio?
Port San Antonio’s 1,900-acre Tech Port campus is a multi-billion-dollar economic engine, making it one of the region’s most robust and fastest-growing centers of business and employment. This growth is driven by the 80 private- and public-sector tenants on the Tech Port campus, and their workforce of 19,000 on-site employees.

A New Era of AI Training
As AI becomes a critical part of national defense and commercial operations, IntelliGenesis is stepping up to meet the demand for skilled professionals.
The course, taking place Sept. 15–19 at the Boeing Center at Tech Port, aligns with the DoD 8140 AI/ML Specialist (623) work role and includes access to a three-hour certification exam. The certification, currently in the final stages of ISO/IEC 17024 accreditation, validates a candidate’s ability to apply AI and machine learning principles in real-world, mission-focused environments.

“This isn’t an entry-level class,” said Lienert. “It’s hands-on, technical, and designed for people who already have a foundation in AI and want to take their expertise to the next level.”
The course is part of IntelliGenesis’ broader effort, called IntelliCademy, to develop a suite of advanced certifications that includes an upcoming AI Innovation Leader program. These initiatives reflect the company’s commitment to workforce development and its belief that AI literacy is essential for the future of defense and industry.
Spotlight on CYBERSPAN
In addition to expanding its training offerings, IntelliGenesis is moving into commercial AI-driven cybersecurity products with CYBERSPAN, which uses advanced AI models to monitor and secure IT environments.
CYBERSPAN is aimed at small and mid-sized businesses, particularly those in critical infrastructure, healthcare, manufacturing, and retail—sectors that often lack robust cybersecurity resources.
“Our goal was to create a solution that’s affordable and easy to implement,” said Lienert. “Small businesses are the biggest targets for cyberattacks, and CYBERSPAN gives them enterprise-level protection without the complexity.”
The platform not only detects and alerts users to suspicious activity but also performs predictive analysis, identifying potential threats before they escalate. It even includes self-healing capabilities, helping organizations recover quickly from cyber incidents.
To expand its reach, IntelliGenesis is partnering with managed security service providers (MSSPs) to integrate CYBERSPAN into their existing security stacks and deliver enhanced protection to clients.
As IntelliGenesis completes its second year at Port San Antonio, the company remains focused on its mission to deliver advanced technology, strengthen national security, and build a skilled workforce.
