Port San Antonio’s longtime customer StandardAero—a globally-renowned firm which for over 100 years has specialized in maintenance, repair and overhaul of aircraft engines—will be growing its local workload significantly.
The news comes days after StandardAero announced continuation of a major military aircraft support program at its San Antonio location. The U.S. Air Force awarded the company a five-year extension of the support StandardAero provides to the T-56 engine line, which powers C-130H military cargo aircraft.
The company’s site at the Port employs hundreds of local workers and spans over 500,000 square feet of highly specialized industrial facilities. This platform provides StandardAero the scale and flexibility to pursue important aviation projects.
“Chapters in aviation history have been written in San Antonio, and StandardAero’s vast facility and talented workforce at the Port are an integral part of the aerospace industry’s past, present and future,” said Port San Antonio President and CEO Roland Mower.
“StandardAero’s back-to-back announcements this month underscore the strength of our workforce in San Antonio and the confidence that the military and commercial sectors have in the quality and range of talent we are growing here,” he added.
“As global commercial aviation is expected to double within the next few years, there is literally a world of opportunities for StandardAero and other key industry players in our community to pursue projects like the one announced today. These efforts will keep global fleets up-and-running. And they will continue to be an important pillar of San Antonio’s economic strength and growth in the years ahead.”
