Startups Converge, Compete During Tech Day 2024

Event consisted of various activities to guide participants' strategic business growth.

Organized by TechBloc, Tech Day 2024 recently took place at the Boeing Center at Tech Port and consisted of a variety of workshops to guide participants' strategic business growth. The event was attended by hundreds of local entrepreneurs, startups, investors and other stakeholders who met with leading experts to hear insights on attracting venture capital, fostering innovation, protecting enterprises against cyber threats, integrating artificial intelligence and much more.

The event culminated with TechFuel 2024 San Antonio's very own Shark Tank-style competition in which an array of locally-based innovative startups competed for their share of a $100,000 cash prize pool — provided by Bexar County Economic and Community Development to take their enterprises to the next level. 

Their innovations will help drive the future for industries such as aerospace, robotics, biosciences and more while raising our community's profile even further as a center where global leaders work side-by-side with creative and energetic startup entrepreneurs to overcome challenges and tap into a world of opportunities.

The winners were:

  • Axicle Inc. took the $50,000 grand prize. The company is revolutionizing fleet safety with a smart fifth wheel hitch enhanced with sensors, AI, and robotics to reduce trucking accidents and eliminate supply chain inefficiencies.
  • Balam won $20,000. The company is creating a fintech solution providing Stablecoin-backed remittances to banks and fintechs—80% cheaper and 10x faster—via APIs, SDKs, and co-branded WhatsApp channels.
  • Wild Forge, 2nd runner up, won $10,000. The company is making a game-changing digital platform that combines gaming with real-world exploration. Kids create digital champions inspired by their surroundings, fostering creativity, confidence, and outdoor discovery.
  • Just-in Traps, Honorable Mention, won $7,500. The company is developing an autonomous feral hog trapping system combining advanced machine learning and computer vision, helping farmers and property owners manage hog populations without impacting other wildlife.
  • BobiHealth won $2,500. The company is transforming maternal healthcare with AI-driven insights for pregnant women, especially those facing high-risk pregnancies. Empowering proactive care and bridging health equity gaps in underserved communities.
