Port San Antonio is once again providing a big facility and utilities to this year’s Elf Louise Christmas Project.
The large space, located at 333 Morris Witt St., will be used during the holiday season to store and distribute thousands of gifts provided by area residents. The donated items will include various types of toys and games.
“Our facility at Port San Antonio has been a perfect fit for the needs of our organization, and the Port has played a huge role in our success over the past several years,” states Elf Louise Executive Director Bill Harrison. “The size and level of security that come with our holiday headquarters are unmatched."
"Additionally, we are conveniently located within a ten-mile radius of most of the families served by the Elf Louise Christmas Project. We are grateful for the relationship we have enjoyed with the Port over the past several years.”
Volunteers will occupy the space from November to January and will help unpack, stock and distribute the gifts. Approximately 4,500 volunteers are assisting the Elf Louise initiative this year.
Founded in 1969 by Trinity University student Louise Locker, the Elf Louise Christmas Project works annually in conjunction with thousands of big-hearted South Texans, who donate their time and resources to help less-fortunate children who might otherwise be forgotten. This year, the organization is expected to spread its cheer to approximately 17,000 children from over 5,300 area families.
