Construction of New Advanced Technology Facility Reaches Milestone

Project Tech Building 2 on track for early 2021 opening.

06-02-2020

An important milestone in the construction of the Port's new state-of-the-art technology facility has recently been reached.

The tilt walls for Project Tech Building 2 — which will soon join the adjacent Project Tech Building 1 in protecting the nation's critical infrastructure — are now fully erected and will serve as the foundation for the five story, 174,000-square-foot facility.

Project Tech Building 2 will further raise the Port’s profile as a leading regional economic engine — a place where more than 3,000 advanced industry jobs have been created since the spring of 2018. Because of this recent growth, the campus is now home to over 14,000 jobs — people who are leading innovations in cybersecurity, aerospace, defense, advanced technology and manufacturing.

As with Project Tech Building 1, the new facility will have features important to cybersecurity operations, including fully redundant power and telecommunications connectivity.

Shortly after Project Tech Building 2 commenced in fall 2019, half of the facility's space was pre-leased — adding to the bustling cybersecurity activity already on the Port's campus.

The two existing facilities across from the upcoming building — Project Tech Building 1 and the adjacent Roberson Building — are home to major information security operations that include customers Booz Allen Hamilton, CACI, CNF Technologies, Lockheed Martin Cyber Solutions, Radiance Technologies and Salient CRGT.

Additionally, leading industry firms Dynamic Advancement, IOMAXIS, IPSecure and Northrop Grumman have established cyber and training labs in various locations just to the west of the upcoming facility.

Project Tech Building 2 will be located at 3130 General Hudnell Dr, and will be in close proximity to Lackland Annex at Port San Antonio—another specialized office complex spanning more than 700,000 square feet. Lackland Annex is home to important Air Force operations, including the national headquarters for the 16th Air Force, also known as Air Forces Cyber — a major customer of cybersecurity firms at the Port.
